Lotus Car
Lotus Cars is a British manufacturer of sports and racing cars founded at Hethel, Norfolk, England. The establishment designs and builds race and creation automobiles of dim weight and astronomical handling characteristics.
The firm was transfered as Lotus Engineering Ltd. by engineer Colin Chapman, a graduate of University College, London, in 1952. The earliest factory was in old stables behind the Railway Hotel in Hornsey. Team Lotus was active and competitory in Formula One racing of 1958 to 1994.The association moved to a purpose assembled factory at Cheshunt in 1959 and as of 1966 the establishment has populated a new factory and road test facility at Hethel, close to Wymondham. This site is the former RAF Hethel base and the test track uses sections of the old runway.
Chapman died of a core attack in 1982, at the age of 54, going through appearing livlihood an inn-keeper’s son and concluded a multi-millionaire industrialist in post-war Britain. The carmaker erected tens of thousands of top notch racing and road cars and won the Formula One World Championship seven times. At the era of his death he was tied in the DeLorean scandal for the duration of the use of authorities subsidies for the creation of the De Lorean DMC-12 for that Lotus had implemented the chassis.
